Pros and cons of Microsoft Band app for iPhone and iPad
Microsoft Band app good for
First of all, Ive had both generations of the band. That being said, from the beginning I thought that the simplicity and ease of use for workouts is phenomenal. I find it odd to see so many people complaining about sync issues. Ive never had much of an issue on that end.
Solid app and is always getting an update about once every two months. Syncing is the only complaint... Sometimes have to manually sync by hitting the refresh button. Wish they had a diagnostic on your band to make sure everything is working properly.
Works great and Microsoft constantly adds features to make the app even more useful than it already is.
The data collected by the band is displayed with clarity and easy to browse. The golf add-on (free) is a fantastic way to track your game (swings, distance, scores etc). This itself is worth the cost of the band!
Comparing Fitbit app to MS Health app, I find MS Health far better and offer lots of statistics.
Pros
1. Amazing and clean UI with ability to customize the tiles
2. Integration with Facebook brings it closer to apps like FitBit but due to less customers still lags the competitive edge
Cons
1. Takes significant time to sync data from band devices
2. The UX has only 1 color, it would be great if there were similar colors like the display for Band 2
3. There should be ability to modify or add wallpapers. This can be done using 3rd party apps but would be great if it was directly built into the app
4. Bring Cortana integration between Band and iOS devices
Some bad moments
A beautiful app really I love the Microsoft Band but please put it compatible with the Apple Health app itll be so perfect so please put it COMPATIBLE WITH THE APPLE HEALTH KIT!!!!!!
1. Cant read data from Apple Health
2. Authorization problems, auto logout
This app is called "Health", not a "Band companion", so integrate it with other services, not only your own band. Let me import data from HealthVault!!!
I like the app in the past, but the current version is kind of a pile... it wont sync properly or easily. Requiring to force close the app to get it to sync. I love the MS Band2 I have, but the app is letting me down at this point. An update should be soon it seems...
Band is not the most accurate device for measuring things like elliptical workouts. It under reports the distance walked and doesnt even let you edit workout data!
I am running this app on an IPhone SE and it takes more than 5 minutes to sync. If I didnt need it to get information from my MS Band 2 (which I love) I wouldnt bother with it. Also it drains the battery very quickly so I have to close it whenever I dont need it or my battery wont last a day.
App gets confused with lb and kg entry, thinks I complete my calorie goal every day at 3 pm, reports wrong information to myfitnessPal . Basically cannot the Band cannot be used for my intended purpose at this time , severely disappointed here X(
